What CLV means

Positive You beat the close. The market eventually agreed your entry was a good price. Sustained positive CLV across 500+ bets is the signal of genuine edge — even if individual months look ugly on win rate.
Zero You matched the close. Neither sharp nor square — but watch the trend over time.
Negative You lost to the close. The market eventually moved against your entry. If this is sustained, the wins you do collect are coming from outcome variance, not edge — regression is coming.

Sample-size rule of thumb: CLV is noise under 50 bets, informative at 100-200, robust at 500+. Read the full breakdown in our closing line value guide.
